This image uses long exposure technique to create the appearance of butterfly wings behind the subject. The visual theory of semantics applies to this image because butterfly wings are an example of an easily identifiable, iconic sign. Butterflies also have the association of hope and whimsicalness when considering their symbolism. The color of the wings can have symbolism in that green represents nature and red represents energy and strong emotional feelings.

This image uses the long exposure technique to create an image of fireworks launching into the sky. The sensory theory of visual communication makes the observer associate the different colored lines into one object. There is also apparent movement in this image, with the “launching” of the drawn fireworks.

This light painting is an image of a flower growing in a garden. I planned to have the bushes next to the flower visible but faced challenges in the execution of the image. The cognitive theory of the perceptual theories of visual communication applies to this image because flowers are associated with nature and growing, meaning that it would not be uncommon for you to find a flower in a garden.
